Reiki in Hospitals

The scope of the use of Reiki in Hospitals has increased since the mid-2000s. Surveys show that over 1,000 US Hospitals offer Reiki, which is often included in integrative medicine departments and attached to oncology surgery, cardiology, or palliative care.

It is being used pre- and postoperatively to reduce anxiety and accelerate healing.

It is recommended for cardiac patients and those with stress-related pathology, such as high blood pressure.

Some notable hospitals include:

  • Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

  • Mayo Clinic

  • Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

  • New York Presbyterian

  • Cleveland Clinic

  • Mount Sinai

Hospitals have found that Reiki sessions help patients heal faster and experience less pain.

Reiki and hospitals are about supporting the whole person —body, Mind, and spirit —while respecting and integrating with standard medical care.
